Why We Came Back to Luxury Sailing — Two Years Running
We just wrapped up our second week-long catamaran charter with Luxury Sailing, this time aboard the Paradise Lagoon 46, sailing the Dalmatian coast out of Trogir. We've never gone back-to-back on an annual trip before, but this crew and this company made that decision easy. From the moment we stepped on board, everything about the experience felt effortless and genuinely white-glove. The boat itself was in beautiful condition — spotless, well-maintained, and clearly a boat the whole team takes real pride in. Luxury Sailing has a way of making every detail simple, from planning through to the last day on the water, so all we had to do was show up and enjoy it. A huge part of what makes this experience so special is our crew: Ivan as skipper and Ena as chef, who we specifically wanted back after sailing with Ena last year. Ivan is an incredible sailor and an even better teacher — he gave us genuine hands-on sailing lessons all week, patient and knowledgeable, never in a rush to just take over. He also had to reroute our original plan early on to avoid a wildfire on Brač and some rough weather, and handled it so smoothly we never once felt unsafe or like our trip was compromised. By the end of the week he felt like family. Ena, meanwhile, turned every meal into an event. Fresh-caught fish, pašticada (traditional Dalmatian braised beef) over gnocchi, incredible shrimp tacos — every single day brought something new and delicious, served right on the boat. We honestly looked forward to meals as much as the sailing, and it's no surprise we asked for her again this year. The route itself was stunning: from Trogir through Stari Grad and Milna on Hvar, the Pakleni Islands (including an unforgettable anchorage right in front of the legendary Toto's in Palmižana Bay), Vis Island (the Blue Lagoon, Stiniva Bay, Komiža), and finishing up in Maslinica on Šolta with an authentic peka dinner on our last night. One evening we wanted to say thank you, so we treated Ivan and Ena to dinner at Restoran Šampjer — perched on the cliffs with a jaw-dropping sunset. It ended up being one of our favorite nights of the whole trip, sharing a meal with them instead of them serving us for once. We just returned from a week aboard the Queen Alexandra, chartered through Luxury Sailing, with our family — six adults and two kids (ages 5 and 1) — and every one of us, self-proclaimed foodies included, left completely delighted. The whole process with Luxury Sailing was seamless from start to finish. They explained every detail before we even stepped on board — what to expect, how the week would flow, what was included — so there were no surprises once we arrived. From the first day, Captain Lucian Sostarcic set the tone for the whole trip. He handled every detail — excursions, restaurant reservations, bike rentals — without us having to lift a finger, and he was endlessly patient and understanding with two little ones on board. Our hostess and chef, Nikolija Baretić, was simply outstanding. Every meal was creative, beautifully presented, and made with clearly fresh ingredients — honestly, she could be running the kitchen at a Michelin-mentioned restaurant. She was also endlessly accommodating with the kids at the table, which as any parent knows is no small feat. What stood out most was how well Lucian and Nikolija worked as a team: attentive, friendly, and genuinely good listeners who took the time to understand what our family needed and delivered every time. We are so grateful for the wonderful time we all had aboard the Queen Alexandra, and we'd go back in a heartbeat. Unforgettable week aboard Princess Hana
We had the most exceptional week aboard the Princess Hana with our captain, Bruno and our hostess, Vanesa. From start to finish our experience was flawless, beginning with clear communication throughout planning our charter week. Our preferences were clearly taken into account at every turn, and we also benefitted immensely from Bruno and Vanesa's experience and knowledge of both the vessel and the Dalmatian islands. Every meal that we had aboard was delicious, well thought out, and clearly took suggestion from our preference sheet while incorporating Vanesa's own culinary expertise and flair (and Bruno's too!). Our itinerary gave us ample opportunity for visiting historic towns, SCUBA diving and snorkelling, and enjoying the local cuisine. When inclement weather briefly popped up one evening, we felt completely safe and knew we were in competent hands. When our plans needed to be adjusted due to unforeseeable circumstances, Bruno was always quick with an alternative suggestion. We had a perfect week and felt so at home every moment of the trip. An Unforgettable Sailing Experience Aboard Queen Alexandra
We had four fantastic days aboard Queen Alexandra, a Lagoon 51 operated by Luxury Sailing EU, exploring Hvar, the Pakleni Islands, Brač and Vis. Captain Lucian Sostarcic and our hostess, Nikolija Baretić, were attentive, accommodating and flexible throughout the trip. Nikolija’s food was exceptional. We actually ate better on board than at the restaurants. Getting to the boat from Split was very easy, and everything was ready on time and exactly as agreed. There are many charter options around Split, but what made this one stand out was the high level of service and the owner’s (Vladimir) responsiveness and availability from the very beginning. We spent seven amazing days on the catamaran Paradise with Captain Ivan and hostess Vanessa, and we couldn’t have been happier with the experience. Vanessa was absolutely fantastic and a wonderful cook. Every breakfast and lunch was delicious and exceeded our expectations. Ivan was such a kind and friendly skipper. He made our three children so happy, especially with the fun rides on the “donut”! He showed us beautiful places and hidden bays and planned an incredible programme for the whole week. Our week aboard PEPE was an absolutely wonderful experience, and a huge part of what made it so special was our captain, Ivan. From the very beginning, Ivan’s presence made everything feel incredibly easy and effortless. Everything was perfectly organized and taken care of, without us ever having to think about schedules, routes, logistics, or the small details that can sometimes make a sailing holiday feel complicated. With Ivan taking care of everything, we could simply relax and enjoy every moment. What made the experience even more special was Ivan himself. Conversations with him were always interesting, natural, and genuinely enjoyable. He is incredibly knowledgeable and engaging, and at the same time knows exactly how to be present and helpful without ever being intrusive. There was never any pressure or feeling of being “hosted” — just a wonderful sense of ease, freedom, and comfort. Ivan created the perfect balance between professionalism and a relaxed atmosphere, making our entire journey aboard PEPE feel smooth, spontaneous, and completely stress-free. Having him as our captain allowed us to truly switch off, enjoy the sea, the beautiful Croatian coastline, and each other’s company. Everything simply flowed. We would choose Ivan as our captain again without hesitation and wholeheartedly recommend him to anyone looking for someone who can turn a sailing holiday into a truly relaxing, memorable, and special experience. We had a fantastic time. Captain Ivan and Hostess Ema were exceptional. The Boat Ocean Eye (51’ Cat) was very well appointed and extremely luxurious. The captain had everything ready to go helped us load our bags and Emma had drinks and an appetizer waiting for us when we arrived! The food was nothing short of gourmet all through the trip. It was very appealing to the eye and delicious. Ivan knew all the best places to go after speaking with us about our interests. we had some challenges with delayed flights and the crew was able to accommodate our schedule as well as lineup transportation for our delayed guests. Communication was easy and I would not hesitate to book this trip again. I definitely recommend the cruise on the Royal Cracow catamaran. The boat was in very good condition, we had plenty of space, and overall it was very comfortable. A big plus goes to our captain, Duje. He was friendly, easygoing, and knew exactly where to take us so we could enjoy ourselves. We felt safe on board the whole time and the trip had a great vibe.
