Keď kapitán zavelí:
• Vytiahnite genu! – máte vytiahnuť hlavnú plachtu
• Vytiahnite kosatku! – máte vytiahnuť prednú plachtu
• Refujte plachty! – máte zbaliť plachty
• Priviažte fendre! – máte priviazať ochranné gumené chrániče pred vstupom do prístavu
• Prehoďte fendre! – máte prehodiť cez oceľové lanká ochranné gumené chrániče pred vstupom do prístavu, aby chránili loď pred poškodením
• Chyť múringové lano! – máte pomocou tyče zachytiť lano ktoré vám podáva na móle chlapík v prístave. Toto lano je uchytené o betónové kvádre, ktoré zabezpečia stabilitu lode v prístave aj pri zlom počasí
• Priviaž múringové lano! – máte na prednú rohatku (hák s dvoma rohmi, na ktorý sa priväzuje lano) uviazať muringové lano
• Pusti múringové lano! – máte na odviazať z rohatky múringové lano a hodiť ho do vody tak, aby sa nezamotalo do vrtule, ktorá poháňa loď
• Umiestnite pasarelu! – máte pripevniť lavičku, po ktorej sa dostane z lode na pevninu
• Natiahnite spray hood! – máte natiahnuť ochranný kryt, keď začína pršať
• Roztiahnite biminy! – roztiahnite striešku pred slnkom
Leňošenie na palube s kompletným servisom má isto niečo do seba, ale riadiť si jachtu sám je pocit, ktorému každý podľahne. Urobiť si kurz a skúšky veliteľa námorného rekreačného plavidla nie je nesplniteľná méta. Áno, budú vás volať kapitán! Hoci rýchlokurz riadenia lode môžete absolvovať de facto v „každej chorvátskej zátoke“, na jeho konci dostanete len chorvátsky certifikát, ktorý mimo Jadranu vzbudí akurát pobavenie miestnych námorníkov, resp. vám ku konci plavby môže spôsobiť vážne vrásky na čele pokiaľ sa niečo udeje a dozviete sa, že poistka sa nevzťahuje na váš Chorvátsky certifikát a šťastným majiteľom kúpite pekne novú jachtu z vlastného vrecka. Rozhodne odporúčame seriózny kurz s medzinárodným certifikátom, ktorý vás oprávňuje riadiť loď kdekoľvek na svete a predovšetkým vás naozaj profesionálne pripraví na zvládnutie aj náročných situácií na mori.
Najprv rádiotelefonista
Podmienkou pre vydanie preukazu veliteľa rekreačného plavidla je najprv absolvovanie kurzu rádiotelefonistu. Na ňom sa naučíte rádiokomunikačné medzinárodné predpisy, zvládnuť rádiokomunikačnú prevádzku a obsluhovať potrebnú elektroniku a rádiotechniku.
Potom kapitán
Kurz veliteľa námorného rekreačného plavidla spočíva v týždennej teoretickej príprave, kde, získate znalosti potrebné na riadenie lode na otvorenom mori, z ktorých sa na záver skladá skúška – navigácia, plavebná náuka, námorné právo, meteorológia, zdravotná príprava a anglický jazyk. Nasleduje praktická príprava na mori – preplávať musíte minimálne 200 námorných míľ (Nm), alebo 100 hodín. Po zložení praktickej skúšky získava absolvent certifikát a oprávnenie veliť malému rekreačnému plavidlu.
C, B, A To sú tri stupne kapitánskeho oprávnenia.
Stupeň C: veliteľ pobrežnej plavby s oprávnením viesť plavidlo do vzdialenosti max 12 Nm od pobrežia.
Stupeň B: veliteľ morskej plavby s oprávnením viesť plavidlo do vzdialenosti 200 Nm od pobrežia. Musí mať prax na mori minimálne 2000 Nm, z toho 1000 Nm ako veliteľ a absolvovať skúšky pre stupeň B.
Stupeň A: veliteľ oceánskej plavby s oprávnením viesť plavidlo neobmedzene. Musí mať prax na mori minimálne 5000 Nm z toho 3500 Nm ako veliteľ a absolvovať skúšky pre stupeň A.
Pri každom stupni sa učí a skúša iná, postupne ťažšia teória.
Škoľte sa doma
Kvalitné kurzy so skúsenými školiteľmi, silnou teoretickou prípravou a praktickou prípravou na mori v Chorvátsku môžete absolvovať s renomovanými slovenskými jachtárskymi školami. Skúšky sa vykonávajú pred povereným inštruktorom Ministerstva dopravy SR.

1. Respect the captain. He is responsible for your safety as well as for the protection of the boat. When maneuvering in the marina, anchoring or lowering the sails, he will probably need your assistance in the worse weather. Listen to and follow the instructions.
2. Respect nature. Sea is not a pool and security is important here. Just like the environment. Take all your waste to the mainland. People coming after you also want to enjoy the beauty of the sea. Waste tanks are not emptied in the port or in the bay, but always on the open sea at full speed.
3. You can fish only with a valid fishing ticket. You can also get it online at www.mps.hr
4. Do not take a big luggage on the boat. It is bulky and occupies a lot of space in the cabin. Instead pack in a soft bag. The smaller, the better, ideally one small backpack. You really need only swimsuits, shorts, t-shirts, sneakers, a set of warm waterproof items and a credit card.
5. Do not carry a huge supply of food with you. In each marina, town and village you will find well-stocked foodstores, local fishermen, restaurants and small taverns, where you will have fresh homemade food.
6. In the marinas you can pay by card, but keep cash too. You’ll need it here in smaller villages and restaurants. Almost anywhere, you can pay in euro without any problems.
7. Always keep the photo camera and video camera in your hand. Beautiful views or a group of floating dolphins can surprise you anywhere on the sea.
8. The level of gastronomic services in Croatia varies. There are plenty of fine restaurants, family taverns with homemade food and great small wineries. Rely on personal recommendations and in particular – make reservation in advance.
